Obaa’s Nurturing Essentials was established officially in May 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Obaa is a homegrown cottage business registered in Ghana. We started this as a hobby but soon realized the numerous benefits.
As a mother myself who has seen the real benefits of our indigenous Sheabutter , my aim is for every household in Ghana and more specifically pregnant women and lactating mothers to embrace the usage of Ghana’s very own raw , natural and organic shea butter products to help nourish the skin of their families.
There has been recent news on how harmful some products are on baby’s skin hence resorting to natural products is the way to go.
We source all our ingredients for our signature body butter right here in Ghana from women’s cooperative unions. This way , we are satisfied that the women who produce our sheabutter are continuously employed to also help sustain their families after sweating to produce our fine shea butter.
We want to continue to promote made in Ghana goods and to promote natural skincare. Obaa simply means female in the Akan language which symbolizes a woman.
Well you can actually link that to the name of our founder who is called Obaayaa. Our main aim for choosing such a name is the symbol it represents i.e a woman, the nurturing figure in the society
Why did we choose this?
Obaa employs solely women who produce our raw shea butter directly from the North.
We aim to help create an awareness of the importance of using ethically sourced natural ingredients in skin care.
Our chemical free Shea based products are simply made to help nourish the skin of both mother and child.
When you look closely at our logo , you would see a fusion of a hand embedded in the tree of life and a heart which represents the main vision of Obaa; nurturing , love, the tree of life-personal growth , strength and beauty.
This is the vision for the product and hence the reason for choosing a symbol which represents women.
